Born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia, Boogie began photographing rebellion and unrest during the civil war that ravaged his country during the 1990s. Though he never planned to leave his homeland, a green card won in the national lottery brought him to the United States in 1998. Boogie settled in Brooklyn, where he resumed his photographic pursuit of those living on the fringe, outside the law, in the margins of society.

Paper was ideally suited to this experimental work, as it is readily available and can be easily manipulated by hand. I find it very important to work hands-on, as this is the most effective means of gaining knowledge about a material, such as how it behaves when subjected to various manipulative techniques.
